Our Story

The Current Outreach Church started in August 2007 as an outreach of Butterfield Assembly of God in Van Buren, Arkansas.  It was birthed out a vision to take church outside the 4 walls.  Our first Friday night service was held underneath the Midland Bridge in Van Buren.  Soon the winter months and new laws regarding congregating under bridges required us to find a new location.  We were gifted a building located at 414 south 4th street.  This is where our South campus now resides. Our first sanctuary had no heating and air, no windows that would open, one stall bathroom and the floor was rotten.  But it was where the Lord birthed a church and a passion for the lost in our community.  Soon our growth required a new sanctuary and in 2016 The Current Outreach Church became its own Sovereign church.   Meaning it was no longer an extension of Butterfield Assembly but had reached a place where it was self supported financially.  Butterfield voted unanimously to gift us with our sanctuary and gave their blessing to be a stand alone church.  We then started having Sunday, Wednesday, And Friday Night Fire.  We added to our facilities and our reach.

In 2021 a opportunity presented itself for us to be able to purchase 2020 Dora Road to house The Current North Campus.  This campus will allow us continue our growth, our reach and our vision.  It has become our primary campus for Sunday and Wednesday services.  While the South campus is now used for Friday Night Fire and expanding community outreach.  Both campus’ are located on the Arkansas river.  Thus the meaning for the name The Current and our motto “Come experience the RIVER of life”.  We believe that the Lord will continue to use, equip, and expand our reach with both locations.  The buildings are only a housing.  The people are the church.  The people are what makes The Current Outreach Church a beautiful, diverse, passionate, fiery gathering place.  The walls are invisible to us.  What goes in on the inside is a reflection of how we love on the outside!
